Six-Pack Abs

Everyone wants great looking abs. The average person is more likely to drink a six-pack than wear a six-pack. But with proper diet & exercise you might be able to display great looking abdominal muscles.

Your abs and your sick-pack are already there. They are just hiding under a layer of fat. The trick is to rid yourself of the fat. For most people your body places most of it’s energy storage (fat) in your mid-section. Diet is your main tool. Until you reduce your calorie intake below what is needed by your body you will never get there. Remember it is not about starving or fasting, it is a balanced diet with protein with some carbohydrates & even some fat. If you reduce your caloric intake too much you will find your metabolism will slow down which works against fat-loss and saps energy.

Diet will get you halfway to your goal. The other half is from exercise. Let us clear up the biggest mistake people make trying to get great looking abs: Abdominal specific exercises will

    NOT

remove the fat over your stomach. There is no such thing as “spot reduction” meaning exercising a specific body part does not remove fat in that area. It will exercise the muscle(s) in that area. You do need to do some abdominal & core exercises to get those muscles in shape but unless you perform other muscle exercises & cardio the fat will continue to cover up those muscles.

Cardiovascular exercises will burn calories. Still, do not ignore the best fat burner: resistance exercises. Whether using free weights, Resistance bands or machines building stronger muscles also burns calories. Whereas cardio stops burning calories & fat when the cardio exercise ends, resistance exercise continues to burn calories for up to a couple of days. The more muscles worked the more your body will burn the total fat from your body.

Abdominal exercises can be as simple as crunches and leg raises though kickboxing and other forms combine both cardio and core building. Let’s all get in shape now!
